Forum: audio Subject: public domain?????

Hi everybody

i am a poor french girl who doesn't understand anything about this mysterious thing: the public domain.

Someone could explain me more?

I want to use some music in a short film and i was wondering if all the music i can load on this web site is in this "public domain" (i mean, using a song without asking for law things). For exemple, i have found "dirge" of death in vegas that i can load for free on this web site. It means that i can use it for free in a short film or anything???

thanks a lot...

anais

No, not all media here at the archive is public domain.

Some items, like, i am guessing that death in vegas track, and some other stuff are under traditional copyright, it just happens that many people uploads lots of copyrighted stuff here to the archive, on an illegal basis, so it is better if you check carefully what license each item has. Still there are here many original works under public domain and creative commons licenses that you may use, it is just a bit messy to try to find items in the archive by license type.

And, by the way, some of my audios are here:
